How to install openEMR in Ubuntu

OpenEMR is a medical practice management software which also supports Electronic Medical Records (EMR). It is ONC Complete Ambulatory EHR certified and it features fully integrated electronic medical records, practice management for a medical practice, scheduling, and electronic billing.

The server side is written in PHP and can be employed in conjunction with a LAMP “stack”, though any operating system with PHP support is supported.
OpenEMR is free and open-source software subject to the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). OpenEMR is subject to ongoing efforts of internationalization and localization in multiple languages, and there is free support available in various forums over the world. At the time of writing, commercial support is offered by more than 30 vendors in more than 10 countries.

Here, I post the steps to be followed to install openEMR in ubuntu machine.

Assume that you have opened the terminal and logged in as root user

OpenEMR is running on the under LAMP server,To install LAMP server follow the steps:

Install Apache:

sudo apt-get install apache2

After successful installation,Check the web server like http://localhost, You can see the Apache’s welcome page.

Install MYSQL:

sudo apt-get install mysql-server

After successful installation,login MySQL using mysql -u root -p,then enter your password.

Install PHP:

sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5

After successful installation,check the PHP installation by running info file in Apache server.

cd /var/www/html/   –default document root

Create the PHP file(say index.php) and paste the following:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

Test the file using http://localhost/index.php

Once done with LAMP server,its time to  install OpenEMR.

Install OpenEMR:

Download the OpenEMR tar file here. and Install OpenEMR dependencies using here.

Untar the downloaded file inside the document root of the server.

Access the application using http://localhost/openemr-5.0.0,You can find the OpenEMR welcome screen.

Finally, Go through the set up as like windows application installation.

Once done with the installation.Check you application using http://localhost/openemr-5.0.0.

Note:

  • Make sure that your directory is having file permission for Apache server.
  • Make sure to remember the OpenEMR password.
  • Delete the setup.php file under OpenEMR root directory,once you done with the installation.

How to install Oracle Java in Ubuntu via terminal?

Hello all, Today I am gonna share, how to install oracle java in Ubuntu.

Note: We can install Java in Ubuntu using the below command:

apt-get install open-jdk*

In addition,If it require to install official oracle jdk in your machine.Follow and execute the below commands:

Step 1 :

Adding installer script in PPA repository:

dd-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java

Step 2 :

Update the repository using as like below:

apt get update

Step 3:

Install oracle jdk using below command:

apt install oracle-java8-installer

While  the file is installing , A pop-up screen will come to accept the terms and conditions of oracle.Click Okay to continue.

Step 4:

To set installed Java 8 jdk as default,enter the below command:

sudo apt install oracle-java8-set-default

Step 5:

Verify the installation by entering the below command:

java -version

It shows something like the installed java run time version and its details.
